Our partnership emerged from the turbulent backdrop of the Afghanistan withdrawal. Jessica and Shawn began working together shortly after the fall of Kabul, connected through mutual membership in the Truman National Security Project and a drive to ensure America kept the promises it made as a nation to our wartime allies.

As the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan after twenty years of war, we worked at the forefront of collaborating with the Biden administration in what Secretary of State Antony Blinken called the most effective public-private partnership he’s ever seen. 

We spent the next three years helping to build and implement that partnership – Shawn from outside government, and Jessica from inside.

With Shawn’s background in homeland and national security, emergency management, management consulting, and civic engagement at all levels, and Jessica’s background in public relations, strategic communication, and local, state & federal government, we are already navigating our nation’s most complex crises.

Together, we’ve launched Gaslamp to leverage our unique blend of talents and experiences.
