Who We Are

Gaslamp emerged from the turbulent backdrop of the Afghanistan withdrawal. Founders Jessica Bradley Rushing and Shawn VanDiver began working together shortly after the fall of Kabul — Shawn from outside government, and Jessica from inside — to ensure America kept the promises it made as a nation to our wartime allies.

Over the next four years, Jessica and Shawn helped build and implement a public-private partnership between the U.S. government and civil society that collaboratively shaped the global effort to relocate and resettle eligible Afghans. Working together, they have already navigated some of our nation’s most complex crises.

Shawn and Jessica founded Gaslamp to continue that work — for organizations and individuals looking for something fresh, thoughtful, and more agile.

Gaslamp is built different: forged from crisis and founded in the commitment that we can do things better, smarter, and more nimbly if we work not from a place of fear and caution, but from a place of innovation, creativity, and collaboration.
